CISO Brief (“CISO Brief,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes a daily cybersecurity and AI news briefing at cisobrief.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices and rights available to you. This policy is written to align with the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA, Texas Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541) and the Texas Identity Theft Enforcement and Protection Act (Texas Business & Commerce Code Chapter 521).
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Newsletter subscribers. If you sign up for our daily email brief, we collect your email address.
- Contact form submissions. If you contact us through our Contact page, we collect your name, organization, email address, and the content of your message.
- Automatically collected data. Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, device information, referring/exit pages, and general usage data (such as pages viewed and time on site), typically via cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics.
We do not knowingly collect financial account information, government identification numbers, or other categories of sensitive personal data through this Site.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the daily newsletter to subscribers;
- Respond to questions, tips, and partnership inquiries submitted through our Contact form;
- Understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve content and site performance;
- Maintain the security and integrity of the Site; and
- Comply with applicable law.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your personal information for targeted advertising.
3. Cookies and Analytics

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us operate the Site, including our email newsletter provider (MailPoet), our form provider (WPForms), Google (for site analytics), and our web hosting provider. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of CISO Brief or others.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Consistent with the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, you have the right to:
- Confirm and access whether we are processing your personal information, and to access that information;
- Correct inaccuracies in your personal information;
- Delete personal information we hold about you;
- Obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable format; and
- Opt-out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects — although, as noted above, we do not currently engage in any of these practices.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@cisobrief.com or use our Contact page. We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request, with a possible one-time 45-day extension where reasonably necessary. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
If we decline to act on your request, you may appeal by replying to our response with the word “Appeal.” We will respond to appeals within 60 days. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Texas Attorney General’s office at texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection.
6. Data Retention
We retain newsletter subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed, and contact form submissions for as long as reasonably necessary to address your inquiry and maintain our records. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email, or request deletion of your contact information as described above.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a breach involving sensitive personal information, we will notify affected individuals and, where required, the Texas Attorney General, in accordance with the Texas Identity Theft Enforcement and Protection Act.
8. Children’s Privacy
CISO Brief is intended for cybersecurity and technology professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
9. Third-Party Links
Our articles link to third-party news sources and vendor advisories. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies directly.
